Effective solutions often grow out of real life experiences. That is the case with the Next Generation Series. This material is not theorectical. It is based upon our experiences as a family and subsequently input from many other families who have wrestled with our relationship to teens.

In 1985 Jason Wilkie, a high school freshman initiated what has become an 18 year project with Bill Wilkie, his father. Jason asked, "What does it take to play college football?" Bill Wilkie suggested that he talk with his high school coach. A week later Bill asked Jason, "What did you find out about football recruiting?" Jason's response was, "It was too intimidating for me as a freshman to ask about playing college football." The two of them embarked on a project to interview six college coaches. Having completed this work, they co-authored the first manual entitled "The High School Football Player." As you can see, Jason played college football at Central Michigan University and is now the Director of Parks and Recreation in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Acey Martin has been involved with youth since his senior year in high school in Phoenix, Arizonia. While working on his seminary degree, he led a youth group for 6 years in Ft. Worth, Texas. In 1997, he and Sarae joined the staff at Spring Hill Camps serving as Director of South Camp and Recruiting Coordinator. In 2000, they started "Crew Ministries" as the Student Minister at Mt. Pleasant Community Church and now serve as Program Administrator for Bair Lake Bible Camp in Jones, Michigan.. Acey has co-authored the document on Spiritual Benchmarks in the Next Generation Series.
Sarae Martin originated the concept of the "Year-In-Between" high school and college. Sarae's high school project was international experiences. She designed and ultimately had to organize her own "Year-In-Between." Sarae did a second senior year of high school in a Spanish speaking Chilean high school. That is right, Sarae has two high school diplomas. She subsequently completed a degree at Alma College to become a high school Spanish teacher. She taught for 3 years in Ft. Worth, Texas before joining the program staff at Spring Hill Camps. Sarae authors questions, edits and pilots material for Spiritual Benchmarks.
